The EU Assessed Security Of A Fermented Soybean Extracts As New Resources Food
According to the European Food Safety Authority news, on July 28 European Food Safety Authority released a fermented soybean extract NSK-SD® as the security of the new resources of food.
After standard processing, fermented soybean extract nattokinase enzyme activity of 20,000-28,000 fibrin degradation units/g. The EU evaluation team regard that fermented soybean extract have good product description, batch differences and stability, there is no security risk. As a dietary supplement daily limit is 100mg, suitable for healthy people over age of 35, except for pregnant and lactating women.

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA) was asked to deliver an opinion on the fermented soybean extract NSK-SD as a novel food (NF) submitted pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 258/97 of the European Parliament and of the Council, taking into account the comments and objections of a scientific nature raised by Member States. The NF is the fermented soybean extract NSK-SD, which is standardised to a nattokinase enzyme activity of 20,000-28,000 fibrin degradation units/g.
